The Pharmacy For You
Our expertly trained pharmacists and friendly staff pride themselves on making sure your pharmacy experience exceeds expectations.
The Drug Room opened for business in April 1970 when pharmacist Billy M. Groves filed incorporation papers. Mr. Groves owned and operated the pharmacy until 1994 when he sold the business to the present owner, David Stover. David had worked at the Drug Room since June 1983, so the transition went very smoothly. David believed in and practiced the time-tested philosophy of pharmacy that had always been the bedrock foundation of the Drug Room. That philosophy is "Do what is best for the customer", whether it is the best price, the best advice, or the best service. The staff at the Drug Room has always had the best interest of the customer in mind.
David Stover is a 1976 graduate of Northeast Louisiana University. David worked a "relief schedule" while living in Monticello for about two years until he opened Gould Family Pharmacy in 1979. He sold that pharmacy and came to work in Pine Bluff in 1981 and has been serving the Pine Bluff area ever since. David was the only pharmacist working at the Drug Room until his daughter Heather joined him in 2002. Dad and daughter shared the Drug Room philosophy and the business flourished during a period of great change in the practice of pharmacy in Arkansas. The increased influence of insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and Medicare caused may independent pharmacies to fail and close, but the Drug Room has survived. Hard work, persistence, and doing "What is best for the customer" has worked for us in the past, and we believe it will work in the future.
David has always said that we are one of the few pharmacies that will take care of you from the cradle to the grave. We compound prescriptions for the smallest of infants to taking care of the needs of patients in long term care facilities in our city.
In 2021, the DrugRoom added Brittany Butterfield PharmD to the staff. She received her doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2021. She brings vast clinical knowledge to the experienced pharmacy staff. Brittany received a double major in chemistry and biology from Arkansas State University while playing college basketball for the Red Wolves. Her favorite part of the job is working with the patients and knowing everyday she is making a difference. Brittany is our clinical pharmacist with a diverse background in compounding, point-of-care testing, med sync, and vaccinations.
In 2012, Alli McCoskey Steele joined the Drug Room team. She is a native of the Pine Bluff area. Alli graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2017 with her PharmD. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. We are so lucky to have such a bubbly, knowledgeable, and kind pharmacist on our staff. She is our nursing home and compounding specialist. Alli loves spending her free time with her family, friends, and award winning barrel racing horses.
Together, our pharmacists have a total of 65 years of pharmacy experience. They will work closely with your doctor to assure that you get the appropriate medication for every medical condition and you receive it in a timely fashion.
The Drug Room is also fortunate to have excellent pharmacy technicians. Terri Hopper has ten years of experience at the Drug Room. Besides pharmacy skills, our technicians have excellent people skills. They go the extra mile to meet our customers' every need.
It is our hope that our customers will have a positive experience at the Drug Room and that they will share those experiences with family and friends.
